How Blessed We Are
Or how about the times that you've dug through you closet to find clothes to wear for a specific engagement that is about to come up?
Maybe you've had the hard decision to decide on which new addition you should make to your sports car that you've been working on for years?
When was the last time you stopped wondering about what restaurant you were going to eat at, or what shoes you were going to buy, and gave thanks for what you have and what you do. When was the last time you stopped to think on how much you really have and how blessed you really are to be where you are and have what you've got?
Many, many poeple in this world don't have much or anything at all. Those who are sitting there reading this, you are doing so on a computer. Chances are, it is your own computer. How blessed you are to have such a luxary.
Try something new... instead of buying those new racing tires, or that neat computer hardware you don't need, or adding to your garden or home that doesn't need to happen, why not give thanks! Afterall if it wasn't for God and Christ you wouldn't even be here to enjoy the things you have.
If you don't believe in God or Christ, or if you only believe in what you see and touch, than give thanks to another person. Give them some help to get back on their feet. Help an elderly couple who has worked for years to stay warm during the winter. Help a new couple with their bills after having their 1st, or 19th child. Give work to someone who wants it. Help a homeless person with a place to stay, food and find a job. Don't be afraid of the people on the side of the road after walking 5 miles to the nearest gas station, not everyone is an axe murderer. Why not offer assistance in a shelter for battered women, or foster children who need a stable home. Help a family find their lost puppy, or help someone with their car maintenance, if you know how.
All of us can assist someone, somewhere with something. All of us can do something to help another person.
Even those who have not had to work a day in your life, those who don't have to worry about food, water, a bed to sleep in or clothes to wear. Even if you don't have a skill or trade or have ever had a job. We all can do something to help another.
So why not give thanks? Why not help your fellow man? For those who believe in God and Christ, tell God you love Him more. Tell Him thank you more. Not just for the meal you are about to eat, but for everything that He has given you.
We are all blessed. We are all able to give thanks.
God bless,
Johnathan
